Guy Woodland Promoted to Senior Vice President For New Hampshire Association for the Blind

CONCORD - November 27, 2006 - George Theriault, President and Chief Executive Officer of the New Hampshire Association for the Blind announced the promotion of Guy Woodland to Senior Vice President. Guy joined the management team of the Association in 1999 as the Vice President for Rehabilitation and Education. During the past eight years, he has successfully led the expansion of low vision and rehabilitation services statewide. "Guy Woodland is an effective leader, a strong advocate for people that are blind or visually impaired and a highly visible spokesperson. The New Hampshire Association for the Blind is thrilled to have a person with his insight and experience leading the growth of our client services programs."

Born in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia Canada, Guy was born with no vision in his left eye. At the age of 20, he lost his vision in his right eye as a result of a detached retina.

Guy served as Executive Director of the Nova Scotia/Prince Edward Island Division of The Canadian National Institute for the Blind in Halifax, Nova Scotia. CNIB is the largest non-profit, volunteer organization serving persons who are blind and visually impaired in the world. At CNIB he successfully expanded services to the Northwest Territories.

Guy has been a member of the Lions International Organization since 1970, serving at the club and district levels. He has held elected positions at the chapter/national/international levels of the Association of Education and Rehabilitation for the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER). He is past chair of the New Hampshire Statewide Independent Living Council and currently serves on the Governor's Commission on Disability.

Guy and his wife Mary, of 36 years, live in Concord.
