The 4th Annual Blind Awareness Walk-A-Thon Raises over $30,000

CONCORD - June 12, 2007 - More than 400 walkers turned out for the New Hampshire Association for the Blind's 4th Annual Blind Awareness Walk-A-Thon held in Concord on Saturday June 2nd. Walkers from across the state participated including one hundred walkers from the Red Arrow Diner in Manchester.

This year's Walk-A-Thon was dedicated to Jesse Isabelle, a 14 year old client who passed away last year, just a few days after participating in the Walk-A-Thon. His mother, Carol Sheehan, owns the Red Arrow.

Special Awards were given to Jesse's Angels from the Red Arrow for "largest team"; The Eyes Have It from the Eye Center of Concord for most creative team name; Jesse's Angels for the team with the most sponsorships and Frank Haley, from Andover for most money raised by an individual. Tim O'Malley, a Concord Police officer won the raffle for "Breakfast for 2 for a year at the Red Arrow Diner" with Stephanie Hurd of Portsmouth winning the 50/50 raffle. Proceeds from the Walk-A-Thon will support the many vision rehabilitation services provided to adults and children living with blindness in New Hampshire.

The 5th Annual Blind Awareness Walk-A-Thon will take place on May 31, 2008.
